| The Light and the Sound (study), oil, 9x12 |
I worked on this painting overlooking Somes Sound from the Northeast Harbor side of the Sound, with Flying Mountain and St. Sauveur Mountains across the water. What attracted me to the site was the golden color of the field and the contrast of the blues and purples of the mountains. I wanted to create a sense of depth and movement that is apparent when you spend time near the sound. The trick was getting the balance of color, textures, edges and intensity to make that happen just right.
This is on of twenty one pieces in my solo show at Gleason Fine Art in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. On display until October 13, 2012.
