Work in New England Landscape Invitational

Twilight Over the Barrens, oil on panel, 8 x10 in., 2011

I'm pleased to announce that four of my oil paintings were selected to be in the New England Landscape Invitational at the Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, CT. The show runs from September 23 to November 12 with an Artist's Reception on September 30 from 6-8pm. For more information contact: www.lymeartassociation.org.

Twilight Over the Barrens was painted on site in the blueberry barrens of Franklin, Maine while out painting with student. We had already painted one piece, but the light was fading fast and creating some beautiful colors in shadowy areas of the trees and barrens. So, we decided to paint another piece each, trying to communicate that light. Also, I was trying vary the edges, blurring some passages and letting some colors and values move into one another. Later, I came back to the studio and put some finishing touches on it. I think it works. Enjoy.
