In Between Water and Sky Study is an oil painting study (oil on linen, 6 x 6 in., 2011) for a larger piece In Between Water and Sky (oil on panel, 30 x 30 in., 2011) that recently sold to a collector from my solo show at Courthouse Gallery Fine Art.
Over the last year or so, I have been creating many small oil studies and then creating larger oil paintings based on those. This piece was a "memory"painting, where I started painting without any reference material except the memories of Ned Island and Crow Island off the coast of Grindstone Neck and Schoodic in Maine - two islands that I have painted dozens of times.
