Rusting Beauty - oil painting

After teaching a figure painting class last Monday in Bar Harbor I wanted to paint this rusting beauty of an old Ford truck that was parked on the side of the road. This is right up my alley - I had seen it sitting there with an impressive collection of other old trucks, classic riding lawn mowers and other cool machinery up for sale. Such character!

So, I set myself up along side the road and painted it. Along the way, the owner came out and chatted with me for a bit. One of the things that I like about plein air painting is meeting people, who always seem to have some interesting insights. Keeps it fun and down to earth!

This is the finished piece, which will most likely make it into my solo show at Courthouse Gallery Fine Art opening July 24, 2013.
